Biography

Ayre Flutes is a contemporary flute ensemble specialising in performing and commissioning new works. Ayre Flutes is dedicated to raising the profile of contemporary flute music and making contemporary music accessible to a wider audience.

 Twice shortlisted for the 2012 and 2011 Park Lane Group Young Artists Series, Ayre Flutes has performed at festivals and venues throughout the U.K, most notably St Martin-in-the-Fields, the Park Lane Composers Symposium at the Southbank Centre and Cheltenham Town Hall Concert Series. Following highly acclaimed performances at the 2010 and 2008 British Flute Society Conventions, Mike Mower invited Ayre Flutes to record his work Obstinato and Scareso at his studio in Somerset.

In 2009 Ayre Flutes was awarded the June Emerson Launch-pad prize for an outstanding chamber ensemble and was interviewed for Muso magazine discussing their involvement in contemporary flute music. Ayre Flutes was formed in 2007, and all members are graduates of UK music colleges. Ayre has worked with prestigious musicians and composers such as Anna Noakes, Wissam Boustany, Andy Findon, Will Offermans, Mike Mower and Dave Heath.
